Becoming successful youth entrepreneur series.

PART IV: WHERE IS YOUR SOLUTION GOING TO TAKE PLACE?
One Monday evening i was invited at Rotary Club- Mzizima fellowship to speak by my good mentor president Ambrose. It was my first time standing before a crowd of most highly respected professionals listening to a guy who is starting out in business. Gosh!..it was frightening to me, i was sweating in air conditioner imagine?!
I taught the subject called 5 LAWS OF CHAMPIONS, and really God helped me to unimaginable extent. I spoke with passion and determination which made the whole crowd to stand up and give around of constant applause. I remember one Indian business lady came to me and said "son i have no word to describe your good work but all i can do is to give you a warm hug". Hahahaha, it was really a great honor for me and a new level in my speaking career.
But reality came in when a time of  questions arrived. They asked me alot of questions and i managed to answer as clear as possible, you know professionals!!. But there is one question which blown me away, it was from one of those people who asked me " son you really have a good solution to deliver  but i want to know where will that solution takes place, because i believe there must be a specific place where it can be applied?".
Truth to be told i didn't know what to say cause i had no answer to that. And if it wasn't for president Ambrose to notice that and said "we shall continue with questions sections next time", all the trust and glory i had gained from them would have perished, eeehww!!. thanks to my mentor Ambrose.
I went back home thinking about that question all night long, then i came to discover something important.
The great impact or no impact of your solution depends so much on where you apply it. Because is not everywhere your solution will work and produce results for you. That's why you have to be specific and research the place you want to deliver your solution. In business like i told you earlier is all about focus, you have to channel your mind, body and energy in one direction. This way of knowing a specific place will help you to save.
i)Your time
ii)Unnecessary cost
iii)Working with wrong people
iv)Avoiding unwanted results.

Yes, i believe you have a solution to offer in order to change the world, but do you know where you are applying it ?. Is it your country, Africa,Europe,Asia,America or the whole world?. The wise man once said "specification is the well of massive results". Know where to apply a solution and you will be smiling at your results.

PART III: TO WHOM ARE YOU LENDERING YOUR SOLUTION?.
I recall one time when i went to see co-founder of Maanisha ltd, Andrew Mahiga seeking some advice about  my business. We sat in lounge and starting going through my business idea, then he asked me fundamental question, "Okay, i have seen your motive and problem you are solving but to whom are you targeting your solution?".

I replied bodly, "i think this solution will benefit everyone who wants it". He looked at me and smiled ,then said, "don't you think you will waste your time and resources doing what you want to do?".

Well, to me it was very hurtful reply because i didn't expect such answer from a man like Andrew, and he already knew i was so upset with my head looking down.

After a while he told me "always if you want to learn a valueable  lesson it costs pain, but choice is yours whether to persevere or quit".  He added "i know you are upset but i want to know if you are ready to learn or you want to leave my office?". With the sad face i said "i want to learn that's why am here".

He said, " well then let me teach you something important and simple about business, it's good to have the motive and solution but is more required to know the person you are trying to help, because not every solution will be beneficial to everybody".

He continued "business is all about operating at low cost and maximize revenue,in order to do that you have to be so specific about the people you want to target, it will help you in the following things,
i)To deeply know the people you are helping i.e their desires, concerns, dreams, hope and needs.
ii)It will give your solution a wide opportunity to expand in its' functionality of solving a problem
iii)It will help you to use right resources and minimize your costs of operations
iv)You will deliver exactly what that niche wants
v)It will increase your revenue

It was aaahh! moment for me. I felt something like lightening my mind with new set of experience because all i thought was motive and solution are enough, not realizing i was half way there. I said "wow i really i had no idea about this stuff, thanks to you Andrew i have something new in my business". Then he replied "if you  left for being upset you would have regreted even more but thats is it for today".

This thought changed my life and helped me to become focused with what i do or want to do. I have met  so many young people who want to initiates a business but when you listen to their ideas, are always general. To be specific in what you want to do is the first step to successful entrepreneurship. You have to carefully seat down and analyze the people you intend to help, this will much easy your work and build efficiency.
Here are several pointers to help you specifying people who will be helped by your solution,
i)What kind of gender you are helping, is it males or females?
ii)What type of people, is it men, children, women, old peoples ect
iii)Which people of country you are helping
iv)Which class you are helping, is it working class, business owners, self employed.

This will help you to narrow your costs of operation and maximize the impact of your solution.

Becoming successful youth entrepreneur series

PART II: ARE YOU A PROBLEM SOLVER?!
The world is full of problems everywhere, that's why entrepreneurs exist because they problem solvers. To bring changes you want in the world you have to train yourself to become a problem solver which is the heart of entrepreneurship. Becoming successful entrepreneur problems have to be your favorate play toys.
It's only those who initiate businesses in order to solve problems in the world gain huge competitive advantage. When you create solution, you have added great value in the lives of people. The world receive happily those entrepreneurs who are able to feel with people and be willing to get their hands dirty to lender a solution.
The world don't pay for how good the product is but they pay for the value/solution which in the product. And to be an entrepreneur of value you need to learn how to become a problem solver. Now, how do you become problem solver?...There six (4) fundamental steps to follow.

 i) CHANGE FROM BEING PESSIMISTIC TO OPTIMISTIC.

To become a problem solver starts with you especially in your mindset.

Because we see life by our minds. The quality of our mind determines our persipective in life. How do you perceive the problem surrounding you?. Do you see problems as opportunity to bring a solution or as a problems. Because entrepreneurship is 95% mental, if you have negative stand point of your persipective then solving problems becomes very difficult for you. Start being proactive in your mind looking for problems and see the way of solving them and you will gain the world respect for being man/woman of value.

ii) IDENTIFY THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM
I remember one Sunday morning in the church, when i was carefully listening to sermon preached by my spiritual father a.k.a pastor, he said a very important thing about solving problems. He said " if you want to solve a problem 95%  know the source of the problem", this statement was revolutionary in my thinking process as an entrepreneur. It's so essential before starting any endevour to ask yourself "what problem am i solving?".
Knowing what you are dealing with gives you,
-Clear sense of purpose
- Right focus
- Right resources
-Right people
-Right place
-Right and big results.

Being successful entrepreneur is all about knowing  what you are solving and channel all your energy there to create a long lasting solution for the problem.

iii) STUDY THOSE WHO HAVE TRIED TO SOLVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
Is very crucial to study those who have been ahead of you  solving same kind of problem you are solving. Knowing the approach of others to a problem gives you a wide range of knowledge and options, moreover it puts you into a position of bringing new solution and become different from them.

iv) GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY.
After all said and done, taking action is the mother of bringing a solution to a reality. Don't expect to change something while sitting and doing nothing. What you allow is what will continue, stand out firmly go out there and act the world awaits for your solution.

Becoming successful youth entrepreneur series

                              FOUNDATION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP PART I
To become an entrepreneur is the biggest decision you will ever make as a youth. Because it shows how much you have a strong desire to change the world. The world needs more of youths who initiate changes because its' future lies on their hands. Being entrepreneur in fast moving world is challenging due to thick competition in different industries but one thing is certain if you set out your mind to do something you will achieve it. I have come across many youths standing up with ideas of businesses which i say "bravo" to that, but most of them don't hit the ground because many fail to realize that entrepreneurship is all about foundation you build. The type of foundation you build around your world of entrepreneurship will determine the whether you will last long or short. Any successful business start with the foundation within person himself/herself because entrepreneurship is emerged from the heart. It takes a character to have a strong foundation as an entrepreneur since the first person you are  dealing with before going out is you. The world around you depends on the changes within you. So in your foundation of entrepreneurship you need this important cement.

i) MOTIVE
First time i had an idea of business i went to one of brothers who worked in UN so that i can get some advice on how i can land it. All the time i was explaining excitedly about how great my idea was he was just laughing, i got very upset as i felt so disrespected. So i asked why he was laughing at serious matter like that, you know what he hit me with a reply  which left me speechless. He said " my brother you have explained your idea very well but it has no good in it because all you tried to put across is how much profit you can make leaving out most valueable key which your MOTIVE."

I learnt a very big lesson which has helped me till today and will apply it for the rest of my life. Is good to take actions, but is very important to know why you are taking actions?.."WHY" is most crucial question any entrepreneur should ask himself/herself before setting out to do anything. People become entrepreneurs for many reasons like greedy, making money, showing off and many others but is the WHY question which reveals your real intentions behind what you are doing.

You may have great idea which shocks everyone but if you have a wrong motive behind it your idea won't go anywhere. Many youths come to me asking for advice about starting their own businesses and others want to partner with me, the same thing i ask them "what is your motive?",most fail to answer so i tell them to go back and think about it then return, unfortunely many don't.

When you undestand your motive, it allows you to see yourself from within what kind of entrepreneur you are and how you can correct yourself. One of most respectable motivational speaker bradley sugars said "Don't start a business to make money, start a business to make a difference". Entrepreneur's deepest motive is to bring changes in the world. Which kind of motive do you have?..Measure it and change it..
